Advanced Debridement and Irrigation: Optimizing the outcomes of non-surgical retreatment
Non-surgical root canal retreatment poses many challenges for clinicians and has less predictable outcomes. One of the potential difficulties in retreatment is the complete removal of existing root canal filling material and biofilms. Additional enlargement of the canal space with rotary instruments is typically required to minimize the remaining root filling material. However, this practice also leads to the removal of valuable root dentin and may further weaken the already compromised tooth structure. Advanced technology in irrigation offers enhanced debridement and disinfection while preserving the mechanical strength of the root. This webinar will provide an overview of the principles and practice of non-surgical retreatment with a focus on the role of advanced irrigation in enhancing disinfection and outcomes of retreatment. Specific strategies in removing root canal obstructions and correcting previous procedure errors will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the presentation, the participants should be able to:
1. Discuss the principles of non-surgical retreatment.
2. Describe the tools and techniques used for the removal of root canal obstruction and managing existing procedural errors.
3. Understand the benefits and limitations of current debridement and disinfection technologies.
4. Describe the workflow for applying OdneClean to enhance debridement and disinfection in retreatments.
